Applicants applying for F-1 Student visas at the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in India should note that the F-1 student visa may be issued no more than 120 days prior to the start date mentioned on the I-20. So the prospective applicants should plan their visa appointments accordingly.
F-1 student visa holder can enter the United States within 30 days of the beginning of the course of study stated on the I-20, regardless of when the visa was issued.
Student visa applicants with pending Immigrant visa petitions (Family-based, EB-5 Investor etc.) subject to long processing timings and long priority dates will nonetheless still usually be granted the F-1 student visas if they are otherwise eligible for the grant of F-1 student visas.
